The General Secretariat of the Andean Community supports the joint trade promotion and other activities carried out by the Member Countries in order to participate more fully in the world economy and in international trade in goods and services.

The Andean Committee of Export Promotion Authorities (CAAPE), created through Decision 566 of September 2003, is made of a member from each Andean country, representing the highest-level authority of the national Export Promotion Agencies.

The purpose of the training and technical assistance programs is help the countries improve their offering so that they can enter international markets and to give the Andean export sector training about the marketing channels used in certain markets and about trade information tools.

Several mechanisms are being used to promote intrasubregional exports, among them Andean entrepreneur forums, business meetings and the publication of business guidebooks.

For some years now, the Andean countries have been participating jointly in specialized international events intended primarily for the production sectors. Arrangements are usually made to have an Andean Pavilion display and promote the region's broad product offering in these events.
