Historical data |

-Manta and Puerto López
Captain Francisco Pacheco founded the capital on March 12, 1535 and Manabi gained its independence on October 18, 1820.
The Province was created with the enactment of the Territorial Division Act of June 25, 1824, article 13.
-Esmeraldas
Bartolomé Ruiz landed on the Esmeralda coast (San Mateo Bay) on September 21, 1526.
Esmeraldas declared its independence on August 5, 1820. It remained a canton until 1847, when it became a Province thanks to the Special Western Provinces Act . The enactment of the Territorial Division Act confirmed its status as such in 1861.
