Geographic location |

At the easternmost point of the Falcon coast, there is a uniquely beautiful area made up of a series of coral cays and small islands with white sands and a turquoise sea and dense mangrove forests where sea birds proliferate on finding a sanctuary and a place to reproduce.
This large area is under government protection in the forms of the Morrocoy National Park and the Cuare Kathy Phelps Wildlife Sanctuary. Morrocoy is outstanding because of its excellent and attractive beaches, which are appropriate for a wide range of open-air activities, such as camping and water sports like underwater diving and sailing. Cuare is ideal for nature observation and ecological tourism because it allows for bird watching, photography, walks and launch rides along established navigation routes.
Access to these areas is via the MorónCoro highway to the towns of Tucacas and Chichiriviche. From Turacas, several sites of interest in the southern sector of the national park can be reached by launch or peñero: Punta Brava, Paiclá, Playa Mero, Playuela, Playuelita, Boca Seca, Playa Azul, Playa Norte, Pescadores and Sombrero. And from the Chichiriviche piers, one can reach the Muerto, Pelón, Sal and Borracho Cays in the northern sector. Some of the cays have café service, awning and chair rental, latrines and forest ranger posts.
