Types of climate in Peru

Zones Type of climate
Coast
The coast has two well-defined seasons: summer (from December to March), with temperatures of over 27°C (80°F), and winter (from May to October), which is cold and very humid, with temperatures of up to 12°C (53°F). Although it rarely rains on the Peruvian coast, fog and light drizzles or garuas are common during the winter months. At the extreme northern end of the coast, the days are always sunny and during the summer temperatures can reach 35°C (95°F).
Highlands
The highlands have a dry, mild climate with two well-defined seasons: summer (from May to October), with sunny days, very cold nights and little rainfall –this is the perfect time to visit this area-- and the rainy season (from December to March), marked by heavy rains.
It is not uncommon in the highlands for the temperature to drop from 20°C (68°F) to as low as 2°C (35°F) in the same day.
Jungle
Humid and tropical, the jungle also has two clearly differentiated seasons: one a summer season (May to October), with sunny days and temperatures above 30°C (86°F), and the other a rainy season (November to March), with heavy showers and rising river levels.
