-The Ilinizas
There are several ways of reaching the border or inside of the Sanctuary. What is important is to arrive in all-terrain vehicles.
Going towards Quilotoa, the entry can be via the Pujilí road (12 km from Latacunga), 12 km from the town of Zumbagua. It is a 30-minute drive down from the highway to the lake.
To reach the summit, take the South Pan American Highway from Quito through the town of Machachi to the turnoff for Chaupi. A cobblestone road leads from that town toward the Ilinizas. On reaching the plain known as the parqueadero de la Virgin (the Virgins parking place), it is necessary to get out and walk the rest of the way.
