and area of the Reserves |

El Angel Ecological
Reserve
El Angel Ecological Reserve is located
in the province of El Carchi, in the northern
Andes and has an area of 15 715 ha (38 831.23
acres).
- Los Illinizas
Ecological Reserve.
Los Ilinizas Ecological Reserve extends
through the provinces of Pichincha and
Cotopaxi, in the Andes and has an area of 149
900 ha. (370 398 acres).
- Pasochoa Wildlife
Sanctuary
The Pasochoa Wildlife Sanctuary is
situated in the province of Pichincha and
covers an area of 500 ha. (1 235 acres).

Where
to lodge at the Reserves |

El Angel Ecological Reserve.
There is a small hotel located at the
entry to the town of El Angel (78 km. from the
city of Tulcán) that offers delicious country
cooking and comfortable beds. It also
organizes tours through the area.
- Los Illinizas Ecological Reserve.
The refuge known as New Horizons is
located at 4 800 masl.
- Pasochoa Wildlife Sanctuary.
The sanctuary management has a camping
area. Another option is to lodge in Quito,
where the hotel offering is very wide and
adaptable to every pocketbook.

mountain boots, sunscreen, sun glasses and a
cap.

High mountain gear, boots, thermal
jacket, sunglasses, cap, sunscreen. Water.

- Pasochoa Wildlife
Sanctuary.
Cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cotton
clothing, jeans or shorts, tennis shoes or
mountain boots (depending upon the path
chosen). Water. Camera.
