Sites of interest to visit: |
Auyantepuy
The name of this site means the Devil´s Mountain in the Pemón language. Considered one of Venezuelas biological riches, it is 2 450 meters high and measures 25 km in length by 35 km in width. It is home to over 800 plant species, of which 77% are endemic. The Angel Falls cascades down from its summit.
Devil´s Canyon
It is more like a huge throat dividing the Auyantepuy plateau into two parts than a natural formation. From the summit, there is a view of several strangely shaped crags and waterfalls. The Cortina Falls, cascading down 300 meters are located in the upper left-hand branch.

Orchid Island
Situated in the Carrao River, it was for a long time the habitat of the coveted flower that gave the island its name. There is a joint project of the Miranda State Orchid Society, INPARQUES, the La Salle Foundation and the Canaima Foundation to repopulate the island with the regions most representative species.

Canaima Lake
This lake is a huge pool fed by the turbulent waters of the Carrao River at the foot of the cataracts. Its waters are a unique color black at the depths and a reddish-yellow near the shores. Indian curiaras are available on the beach to navigate the lake.
Angel Falls
The highest waterfall in the world, its waters originating in the Carrao River plunge almost 980 meters from the summit of the tepuy to the jungle, 800 meters of that in a free fall. Together with the Hacha, or Ax Falls, it feeds into Lake Canaima. Angel Falls was discovered in 1937 by United States pilot, Jimmy Angel, a gold hunter who landed his plane on the summit of the Auyantepuy. Light planes taking off from Canaima and from Kavak overfly the falls several times a day.

Salto El Sapito, or Little Toad Falls
The use of the diminutive in its name does not mean that it is any less spectacular than its neighboring Toad Falls.
Salto El Sapo, or Toad Falls
This impressive waterfall inserted in an area of dense vegetation is just a short walk from Anatoly Island, through a narrow forest. The special feature of these falls is that they offer the possibility of treading a narrow path behind the dense curtain of water, hugging the rocky wall.
Yuri Falls
The Yuri rapids, where an unevenness in the riverbed in two different sectors forms the falls, can be reached in an excursion that includes a drive in a rugged vehicle, a trip by curiara, and a short walk through the forest bordering the Carrao River. During the dry season travelers can visit the Yuri beach located on one side of the Carrao.
