After
km 88, before entering the Great Savanna, the
next gasoline pumps are in Fuerte Luepa and
the Rapids of Kamoirán. From there, there is
no more gasoline until Santa Elena de Uairén.
In 1999 an electric wiring system was set up
to take energy to Brazil. The pylons along the
highway have distorted the unique natural
scenery, one more example of the environment
suffering at the hands of man.
