· Topography: Arequipa has a varied topography, it starts off in a coastal desert and rises in the Andes reaching great heights in the snow covered peaks such as Ampato (6288 masl) and Chachani (6075 masl) or its volcanoes -such as Misti (5825 masl).

In addition, Arequipa has two of the deepest canyons in the world, the Cotahuasi Canyon and the Colca Canyon.
