Thanks to its distinctive geographic characteristics, Ecuador enjoys a variety of microclimates.
Coast: The climate on the coast is hot, with temperatures ranging from 25° to 31ºC. There are two seasons during the year: the rainy season from December to May is hot and humid, while the dry season lasts for the rest of the year.
Mountains: The climate varies according to the altitude. During the year, the climate is subtropical, but cold weather at the highest altitudes, while in the populated centers the temperature ranges from 13° to 18ºC.
Amazon: Generally, this area is hot, humid and rainy, with a temperature that ranges from 23° to 26ºC. The dry season in this region is from October to December.
Galápagos: The climate is dry and the average annual temperature is 25ºC, with a high of 32ºC and low of 23ºC.

The temperature is between 12° and 20ºC in the bleak moors located on the high plateaus, while the rest of the province enjoys humid and semi-humid mesothermal climates.

Bolívar
|
The climate of this province ranges from 8° to 20ºC. The high plateaus have a cold Andean climate, while the interior plateaus have a temperate Andean climate. In the western zone the climate is sub-Andean tropical with continuous humidity, making it well suited for farming.

The high plateaus have the typical climate of bleak moors. In the interior of the province, there is a humid and semi-humid mesothermal climate, while in the western part, the climate is temperate and sub-Andean tropical with permanent humidity.

| Carchi |
The climate is a humid and semi-humid mesothermal bleak moor type with temperatures ranging from 10° to 15ºC. Towards the Chota Valley, the climate is a dry mesothermal one. |
| Chimborazo |
The climate varies according to the altitude, which ranges from 1 000 to 4 000 masl and the temperature is an average of 13ºC with a high of 20ºC and a low of 6ºC. |
| Cotopaxi |
the climate varies from the freezing cold of the high peaks to the humid and semi-humid mesothermal climate of the high plateaus and on to the tropical monsoon climate of the lowest plateaus and the coast. The average temperature in this department is between 15° and 17ºC. |
| Esmeraldas |
Due to its different zones, the climate varies between sub-humid tropical and very humid tropical, with an average temperature of 23ºC. |
| Francisco de Orellana |
Located at the northeastern border with Peru, this department is hot and humid, with an average annual temperature of 24ºC. |
| Galápagos |
The islands are located in the subtropical layer and have dry and very dry climates with temperatures ranging from 18° to 22ºC. The icy cold Humboldt ocean current running from southern Chile flows by the Galápagos islands and influences them strongly. |
