Bathed
by the waters of the Pacific Ocean at an
average altitude of 34 m or 112.2 ft.a.s.l.,
the coastal belt of the department of La
Libertad enjoys a warm and sunny climate for
the better part of the year. Although the
average annual temperature is 18°C (64.4°F),
in summer it can rise above 28°C (82.4°F). A
short drizzly season from June to August also
serves to moisten the countryside.
Starting at 3,000 m or 990 ft.a.s.l., the
climate in the highlands turns dry and is mild
during the daytime and cold at night, with an
intense winter season from January to March.
