Useful data for the Route: Trujillo, cradle of Chimu Suzerainty – Peru

Bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean at an average altitude of 34 m or 112.2 ft.a.s.l., the coastal belt of the department of La Libertad enjoys a warm and sunny climate for the better part of the year. Although the average annual temperature is 18°C (64.4°F), in summer it can rise above 28°C (82.4°F). A short drizzly season from June to August also serves to moisten the countryside.

Starting at 3,000 m or 990 ft.a.s.l., the climate in the highlands turns dry and is mild during the daytime and cold at night, with an intense winter season from January to March.
