Other tourist attractions in Tunja |

There
are other sites that complement the visits to
view the colonial architecture that has been
conserved in the city:
- Archeological Museum at Universidad
Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia UPTC
This museum owns a large collection of Muisca
articles found near the University that
include pre-Colombian pottery, utensils and
examples of burials and mummification.
- Pozo de Donato (Donato’s well) or
Hunzahua
An acknowledged tourist attraction in the
city. It is said that the great Chief
Quemuenchatocha, fearing the evil of the
Spaniards, ordered his subjects to form a
human chain and cast all of his treasures into
this well. With that, he avoided letting the
conquistadors seize the gold and precious
stones that belonged to his gods. The Spaniard
Donato tried several times to remove the
treasure from the well, but was never
successful.
- Cojines del Zaque
Place used by the Muiscas for worship and
sacrifice.
- the martyrs’ wall
This wall in the Parque de la República
(Republic Park) is conserved in honor of the
patriots who valiantly fought the Spaniards in
the tragic wars of independence and were
executed in 1816.
