SOCIAL SECURITY

In May 2004, the Meeting of the Andean Community Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers approved Decision 583 "Andean Social Security Instrument" (which replaced Decision 546 in order to introduce regulations relative to the functioning and composition of the Andean Committee of Social Security Authorities), through which the Andean Community legal system is adapted to the objective of the Common Market and to the current structure of the social security systems of the Andean countries.

At present, the Labor Ministers’ Advisory Council, with the technical support of the Latin American Social Security Organization (OISS), has been preparing the bases for the draft regulations to govern the said Andean Instrument.
