Lima, Jan 22,
2000. The General Secretariat of
the Andean Community today renewed
the contents and design of its web
site (www.comunidadandina.org) by
incorporating new sections and
services, particularly a practical
new mechanism for doing business
in the subregion (only spanish).
The new
structure, with its clearly
differentiated sections and a
design simplified into images, has
the advantage of allowing for
rapid and easy access to a vast
amount of information in Spanish
and English covering over 7,000
web pages.
The new
sections refer to the trade in
goods and services, the Common
Market, social agenda,
infrastructure and borders. In
order to encourage more
interaction with users, a survey
mechanism, inquiries to the
Documentation Center, fortnightly
information about new developments
by e-mail, and a free registry for
journalists in the Press Room,
have been added.
The new web
improved on the contents of the
CAN profile and its bodies and
institutions, as well as on the
presentation and search for Andean
legal provisions and the Official
Gazette of the Cartagena Agreement.
It will be
shortly incorporating the Debate
section, which is expected to
become a meeting place for
reflection with users about the
major issues of the Andean
integration process.
