ANDEAN
INVESTMENT
PROMOTION
STRATEGY
The Member Countries recognize
the importance of creating a
favorable environment for the
development of investment flows
in the Andean subregion, which
means giving investment
promotion and protection
activities a regional
dimension.
The implementation of an
Investment Promotion Strategy
for the Andean Community is
aimed at enhancing national
strengths and coordinating joint
actions to ensure that foreign
investment contributes to the
integration and effective
development of the Andean
subregion.
In Sao Paulo, Brazil, in June
2004, the Secretaries General of
the Andean Community (CAN),
Allan Wagner, and of the United
Nations Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD), Rubens
Ricupero, unveiled a report on
investment promotion that could
serve as a basis for the
preparation of the Andean
Investment Promotion Strategy.
