Inasmuch
as the transportation infrastructure
for the integration process is being
planned and programmed on a South
American scale, the Andean Community
countries are giving priority to the
actions and projects provided for
in the framework of the South American
Regional Infrastructure Integration
Initiative (IIRSA). At the same time,
efforts are being made to reactivate
the Andean Committee on Road Infrastructure
(CAIV).
The CAIV is a forum for road infrastructure
authorities from the Andean Community
Member Countries that was established
by Decision 271 in October 1990, for
the purpose of coordinating the execution
of programs, projects and actions
having to do with the Andean Road
System. Today, the countries are coordinating
the committee's reactivation.
