Minutes of the III CAN-Argentine Negotiation
Meeting
(Buenos Aires, February 15-18, 2000)
The Argentine and Andean Community
Delegations met in the city of Buenos Aires
from February 15 to 18, 2000 to continue
negotiating a Partial Scope Economic
Complementarity Agreement on Fixed Tariff
Preferences between the two parties.
The Argentine Delegation was headed by the
National Director for American Economic
Integration of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, International Trade and Worship,
Ambassador Rodolfo Rodríguez, while the
Andean Community Delegation was coordinated
by the National Director for Integration and
International Trade Negotions of the
Peruvian Ministry of Industry, Tourism,
Integration and International Trade
Negotiations, Eduardo Brandes Salazar.
The List of Participants is attached as
Annex I.
During the course of the meeting, the two
Delegations continued the exercise started
during the round of negotiations held in
Lima last January. They accordingly made
changes in their positions with regard to
products still to be negotiated, in order to
achieve a rapprochement. Further work was
done on analyzing the text of the Agreement
and a consolidated list was prepared for
further evaluation by the two parties. This
is set out as Annex II.
The two delegations reaffirmed their
intention to conclude their negotiations
before this coming March 31 and to that end
scheduled new negotiation meetings for Lima
on March 6 to 10 and Buenos Aires on March
27 to 31, 2000.
