Andean Community Communiqué on Bolivia’s
Political Situation
The Governments of Colombia, Ecuador and
Peru, Member Countries of the Andean
Community, reaffirming their adherence to
the Andean Community Commitment to
Democracy, express their concern over the
political situation that exists in the
brother republic of Bolivia and hail the
decision made by President Evo Morales Ayma
to initiate a dialogue aimed at reaching a
democratic and constitutional solution that
will help safeguard Bolivia’s democratic
institutions and unity.
They furthermore call upon all of the
country’s national and regional authorities
and political forces to act with absolute
respect for Bolivia’s constitutional and
legal norms, to guarantee the State’s
integrity and unity and to honor the
commitments for the protection and
preservation of democratic institutions that
have been assumed within the framework of
the Andean Community and of the Inter-
American System.
