First Meeting of Heads
of State of the South American Community of
Nations

The Presidents of the countries of the South
American Community of Nations have received
with satisfaction the recommendations put
forth by Presidents Tabaré Vásquez and Hugo
Chávez Friás in their letter of 10 August
2005. The recommendations are a valuable
contribution to strengthening integration
and solidarity among the peoples of South
America.
The Presidents are gratified to note that
many of such recommendations are already
reflected in the Declarations and Program of
Action approved by the I Meeting of Heads of
State of the countries of the Community.
With a view to a prompt decision on these
issues, the Presidents of the countries of
the Community decided to instruct the Pro
Tempore Secretariat to undertake the
pertinent consultations within 90 days.
