The Library of the Andean Community General Secretariat was created in April 1970 to cover the information needs of the organization's officials and, to a lesser extent, to support the public and private sectors of the Member Countries.

The Library main area of specialization is economic integration and it offers documents concerning economic development, Member Country economies, and international trade. More specifically, it covers agricultural and industrial development and selected branches of industry, among other topics.
