Election of the Andean Community Secretary General

THE ANDEAN COUNCIL OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTERS, IN AN EXTENDED MEETING,

HAVING REVIEWED AND CONSIDERED: Articles 17, 20 paragraph b), and 32 of the Cartagena Agreement; Articles 5 and 6 of the Regulations of the Andean Community General Secretariat contained in Decisions 409 y 426 of the Andean Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers; Article 7 of Decision 407, and Decision 567;

WHEREAS: Through Decision 567 of the Andean Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers, at an extended meeting held with the regular representatives before the Commission, the resignation of Mr. Guillermo Fernández de Soto to the position of Secretary General of the Andean Community was accepted, effective as from December 31, 2003;

The Member Countries consider that it is of the utmost importance to ensure the continuity of the Andean Community representation, at the highest level, through the timely designation of a new Secretary General;

HEREBY RESOLVES:

Article 1.- To designate Mr. Allan Wagner Tizón as Secretary General of the Andean Communty, for a term of five years, effective as from January 1^st, 2004.

Article 2.- The elected Secretary General shall take up his position, in accordance with Article 7 of Decsision 409, within thirty (30) calendar days as from the aforementioned date.
